CR3 is what every Canon body since 2018 writes, from the M50 to the R5 Mark II. Older tools cannot read it. This one can. Drop the files, look at every frame, convert one or forty, all inside your browser.

ABOUT CR3
What changed with CR3, and why so many tools choke on it.
CR3 dropped the TIFF structure for an ISO media container, the family MP4 belongs to. That is why a CR2 reader does not automatically read CR3.
01
An ISO media container, not a TIFF
A CR3 is built from boxes like an MP4 file. Canon metadata sits in a custom box, the previews sit in their own boxes, and the sensor data is compressed with Canon's CRX codec. Readers written for CR2 have no idea what to do with it. This tool ships a LibRaw build with the CRX decoder.
02
Every Canon since 2018
The EOS M50 was first. The R, RP, R5, R6, R6 Mark II, R3, R7, R8, R10, R50, R100, 90D, 250D and 850D all write CR3, and the R5 Mark II and R1 continue it. If your Canon is mirrorless, it is a CR3.
03
C-RAW is compressed, and it reads
Most CR3 bodies offer C-RAW, a lossy compressed variant that saves about 40 percent of the space. It decodes the same way. Dual Pixel RAW files also open; the develop uses the primary image.
04
The preview is full size on most bodies
Canon writes a full resolution JPEG into the CR3 on the R series, so the camera preview path gives you a full size file instantly, with your Picture Style baked in.
Not a thumbnail puller dressed up as a converter. The same decoding library behind desktop RAW tools, compiled to run in your browser.
01
It shows you what the camera already made
Every RAW holds a JPEG your camera wrote at capture. The tool finds it in the file and shows it in under a second, so a card of 40 frames is browsable before you have finished reading this sentence.
02
It develops the real thing when you ask
Full develop reads the sensor data with LibRaw: demosaic, camera white balance, color matrix, full size. A neutral, honest render with room to push exposure. Two to ten seconds a file depending on megapixels.
03
It never leaves your machine
The decoder is WebAssembly running in your browser. Files go from your disk into memory and back out as JPGs. No server touches them, which is also why it keeps working with the wifi off.
04
It writes a JPG that still tells its story
Camera, lens, shutter, aperture, ISO and capture date go into the JPG so Lightroom and your gallery still read them. GPS is never copied. Untick one box for a file with no metadata at all.

Speed depends on megapixels and your machine. The camera preview of a 24 megapixel file shows in well under a second; a full develop takes a few seconds on a recent laptop. A phone works, a laptop is more comfortable.

Decoding follows LibRaw releases. If a brand new body is not read yet, the camera preview still works because it does not depend on the sensor format.

Why will my computer not open CR3 files?
CR3 needs a decoder that understands the CRX codec. macOS Preview, older Lightroom versions, and most free converters were written for CR2. This page runs a current LibRaw build with CRX support in your browser, so there is nothing to install or update.
Does it handle CR3 from the R5 Mark II and R1?
The decoder follows LibRaw releases. Bodies released after the current build may develop with the camera preview path first; that path does not depend on the sensor format and works on every CR3.
Is the develop the same as Canon Digital Photo Professional?
No. DPP applies Canon's own Picture Styles and lens corrections. The develop here is neutral: camera white balance and color matrix, nothing else. It is closer to a RAW editor at default settings.
Can I convert C-RAW to JPG?
Yes. C-RAW is the same container with a lossy compressed image. It opens and develops like a standard CR3.
Are my RAW files uploaded?
No. The converter runs entirely inside your browser. Files never leave your device, Kepla never sees them, and nothing persists after you close the tab. Turn the wifi off after the page loads and it keeps working.
How does the develop compare to Lightroom?
It is an honest, neutral render with the camera white balance and color matrix applied, close to a RAW editor at default settings before any profile or preset. It is not an edit. It is the fastest way to a clean full size JPG without installing anything.
What does "Keep camera info" do?
Writes camera, lens, exposure settings and capture date into the JPG so the file still tells its story. GPS is never copied. Untick it for a JPG with no metadata at all.
Checking a card is the easy part. Culling it is the job.
Kepla clears the obvious misses from a whole wedding in minutes, on your Mac, offline. The choosing stays yours. Free through the private preview.
